Title: Overrun with the little buggers!
Post by: Tedd on May 12, 2018, 03:49:17 PM
We have chipmunks everywhere all of a sudden. They can really do some property damage. My dog is too old to keep them at bay anymore.
So we have one less. They are a challenging target. I do need to find a hex blunt in my gear somewhere because there are few backstops around my house.

I hear, round these parts, if ya trims the pelt real careful like it only takes 426 ta builds ya a dandy coat ta impress da squaws at the rendezvous.

Or just 3 for one sweet micro bikini for yet beach bunny!!!!!!

The little buggers are actually protected here in PA. Sometimes they get in the way when I'm shooting stumps. Had one that should have ducked just the other day. ;)

I think they're protected here in WI. I've always thought they are pretty harmless.

Got one myself the other day. They didn't use to be a problem but they're starting to move into the garage and shed. Tough targets for sure!

Thats funny Clint!
I think I unintentionally "barked" this last one because there isn't a mark on him. (I read that back in the pioneer days a hunter would "bark" a squirrel with his rifle which is a near miss hitting the tree causing a concussion on the critter that kills it. They did that to prevent meat waste?)
Chipmunks caused $1,500 worth of damage on my wife's Tahoe by chewing the wires on the antilock brake system. and they also chewed the wires off the fuel pump on a dodge diesel years ago. I have a new F250 and they keep crawling all over it!.
How close can you get? Sometimes 15 feet but they have a way of sitting still just long enough for you to draw back and bear down until they move. They do that about 8 times without being able to get a shot off. Most kill shots are about 10-12 yards I guess. You are lucky to hit 1 out of 10 shots.

Tedd ,
good thing you don't have pack rats out there. Imagine opening up the hood of your truck and finding it full of cactus parts!
