A friend of mine picked up a Meigs longbow recently and has a couple of questions that I don't have an answer for. Any way, I thought I might find some help from the site. The ser.# is M6878-865. Does anyone know the age of this bow and can a low stretch string (Fast Flight, etc.) be used on this bow. He said there are seven layers of material through the tips. Any help will be appreciated. Thank you.
Tell him it's no good and I'll give him his money back just because I'm a nice guy!!!
I spoke toTim last week on that topic. he says the last numbers are the serial number of that bow. The other beginning numbers are the date of manufacture. June 8, 1978 for your bow
I have an 1985 model but only use B50. No recommendation on FF
My Meigs bow was a Big Five made in 1978 for HH Archery. Do NOT use a FF string

I would use B-50.
Thank you guys. I will convey the information.
WOW good thing I saw this my bow has the same date but ends in 339. I have been using ff because it has tip wedges.I'll have to make a b50.... :knothead: :knothead:
