Let me try this again....I Love Georgia, this year I decided to hunt further south than I did last year, last year I hunted the North Georgia Cohutta WMA, what a beautiful place to go and let yourself unwind in natures beauty. This year I decided to go further south and hunt the Chickasawhatchee WMA in Georgia.....[attachment=1]
My wife would be accompanying me on this trip [attachment=1]

:campfire:
I didn't know anything about this WMA, so I started out walking a fire lane behind our camp.....
Have patience...I can't seem to get anymore pics to load and post....
I hear that is a great place and easy to get lost in. Looking forward to more...

I found hog tracks in the sandy soil and also found a really nice buck rub line, maybe I should come back to deer hunt.....[attachment=1]
Day one was just trying to get a feel for the area by driving the roads and walking as much as possible...
I walked into several areas that appear they normally hold water, by t yet they were dry, I found plenty of hog sign, but had yet to spot my first hog....[attachment=1][attachment=2][attachment=3]
I'm watchin, :o pretty looking bow.
I found an area that had been cut and burnt, there was hog sign up and down this old roadbed so I decided to sit off to the side and just stay until dark, hoping a hog would stroll by and offer me a nice broadside shot....[attachment=1]

The weather was in the lower 30's at night and lower to mid 50's during the day. It was soooooo nice to just sit around the campfire and watch the flames dance, y worries and concerns seemed a thousand miles away.[attachment=1]
The area was beautiful....I love hunting creek\river bottoms.....[attachment=1][attachment=2][attachment=3][attachment=4]
To be continued.....
Kenny this is awesome.. ^5
Really nice so far. I'm keeping my eye on this one.
Thanks for posting ! Looks great!
I found an old roadbed next to some water, there was hog sign everywhere due to the abudance of white oaks, but I had yet to lay my eyes on my first hog, the sign said they were there, but our paths just hadn't crossed yet.

I was blessed to have my wife along on this trip, she doesn't hunt but she enjoys getting out and enjoying the outdoors with me, she's also a great photographer.[attachment=1]

Can breakfast get much better than bacon, eggs (cooked in bacon grease) and a nice cup of coffee...[attachment=1][attachment=2][attachment=3]

To be continued.....
We found some real interesting scenery and still found plenty of hog sign, but I still hadn't seen a hog, but I was still doing a lot of exploring just trying to feel my way around the WMA.[attachment=1][attachment=2]

I can tell you that I am having a great time...it has been a blast just learning new territory
Sure looks like you and the wife are enjoying the scenery...

I enjoyed my hunt in Georgia, I covered a lot of ground, I got to spend time with my wife, I didn't kill a hog, but that doesn't mean it wasn't a success. I learned a lot about the area and The next time I have a couple areas that I can concentrate on more heavily on my next hunt, and there will be another hunt. So stay tuned, I'll figure this DIY hog hunting out. Thanks for joining me on my journey.
Thank you for taking us along. Did you hear or see any pigs?
Thanks for taking us along. Did you see or hear any turkeys? Jim
Thanks for the story. How many days did you stay?
Great pics!!
This time of year it has to be tough hunting hogs since you I don't think oaks will be dropping until September. I would think they are feeding on grubs and tubers and any other food source they can find.
ENJOYED  THANKS for sharing :archer2:
That was great stuff! Thanks for sharing boss!
Great pics and looks like a fun hunt!! Thanks for sharing.
It was a 3-1/2 day hunt, I never saw any hogs, I heard some, but was never able to put my eyes on them. I did find the turkeys though, it makes me want to go back to enjoy some turkey hunting.
Looks like a beautiful place to roam, great pics. Very cool that your wife likes to go along, plus she lets ya eat bacon and bacon-grease fried eggs!
I hunted down there about 3 or 4 years ago and I also had trouble seeing pigs. The only pigs we saw were football size pigs by themselves, we followed them for a while hoping they would lead us to some bigger pigs but it never happened. A lot of ground to cover, and plenty of hog sign down there.
Great hunt and good story!
Looks like you two had a great time . Anytime spent out is "quality time" ;)
Have a Uncle down Gawga ways , need to get after a hog hunt soon . Looks like a excellent hunt , and really like the idea of spot and stalk in that kind of terrian .
Were there many other hunters in the area ?
this is great stuff yeah that's a little further south in Cohutta for sure. my dad and my uncle and my grandfather used to go there when I was a kid before I could hunt because there were no deer in North Georgia well there was a few but not many and I used to hear the stories but I've never been but I need to go. Thanks for posting and sharing your story.
That's a nice WMA but not easy hog hunting. The TBG sometimes holds member hunts there and the guys that know that place usually kill hogs there. Lots of pressure there when deer season is open, (during turkey season too) which makes those hogs mostly nocturnal, even after the deer season ends; that sign you saw was probably made at night. Looks like you two had a good time anyway.
Thanks for sharing. Hoping to take the same type of hunt once I am out of education.
Very nice. Thanks for posting.
