Do you have the guts?
Like pressure shots?
Heard about a shoot having an Iron Rabbit, and thought so my self "self you should build one to force those pressure shots" so I thought I should build one.... only problem, I don't have the guts yets :biglaugh:
Hole/killzone is 2-3/4"
Some of our 3D shoots here in ND have an Iron Deer I've never seen an Iron Rabbit . I've wrecked a number of arrows on the deer I could get wiped out on a rabbit !!!
Looks like the Easter bunny with a vengeance.
Forces a new concept in Trad shooting - picking a spot BEYOND your target......or else!
I am with Tim - iron deer has already gotten several of my arrows over the years. Bunny would be worse! Post some pics once you get the guts. :biglaugh:
We have a couple of those. A bunch of us get together every year for a shoot/cook out at one guys house and we sit them at about 45-50 yards. They are the last targets and are worth quite a few points, they can make you a winner. Every year someone usually slips one in there and there are a few broken arrows and a lot of laughingJack.
Years ago, I helped set up and shoot in ENC. The last target was a steel pig about 24" long and about a 3" hole to shoot through. The shot was optional, but earned you bonus points. The cool thing was, when someone hit the steel you could hear it everywhere on the course. It was only about a 10 yd shot for trad, but very intimidating.
I was at a shoot in NY State where they had a black bear target inside a steel drum. You had to shoot through a hole maybe 8 or 10 inches in diameter to hit the vitals.
Dave.
We use a Cobra at my club...gotta hit it in the open mouth or SPLAT!!!...kiss the arrow goodbye. One of the guys placed a small coffin next to it..lol...for the dead arrows.
Used to have one at the JLMBH. I wrecked an arrow on it. Managed to slide one through as well
I've lost a few arrows to something like that before.
Was at a shoot years ago that had a large iron pipe. Get into the pipe and you hit the target, maybe. I can verify that the edge of the pipe was bigger than the hole, I hit it twice. That iron rabbit would not work for me, I always shoot bunnies in the head. At least that is what I would claim when I missed the hole.
Shot the Iron Bunny years ago at the GORH
was fun but it looked like this afterwards
The coffin is a nice touch.
Generally see several iron targets during a 3D season.
A number of shoots around here incorporate steel silhouette targets, which offer increased points. Haven't seen any as small as a rabbit though.
Pappy's got a steel fox at the Classic, lot's dead arrows around it also. Bob :archer2:
We just got an Iron Bear for the Cos Cob CT Trad Only shoot this weekend. Can't wait to hear all the pings coming from that station!

I made the iron bunny shot a few times at that shoot........always a challenge. I also shortened a few arrows as well. :banghead:
Hey Ron W, bring a few of those shorten arrows for Sunday as Cos Cob! See you then :biglaugh:
Many years ago, for our Alaska Bowhunters Ed. course, we had a steel bear with the vitals cut out. Used to ask the students at the beginning of the course, what they thought their effective range was. The we'd have them shoot it. Changed a lot of folks minds!
LD
maybe should start with a foam one first painted black :biglaugh:
One of the clubs near me has an iron armadillo they set up at all their big trad shoots. The hole is a bit bigger than on your rabbit, but it still eats a lot of arrows thru the course of a weekend!!!! It's most always set pretty close, and I have not broken an arrow in it yet (probably just jinxed myself for sure), but I ain't skeered to shoot at it!!!!!

.....Looks like something designed by a arrow sales representative :biglaugh:
We've got an iron bear, wolf, and bat....you can hear the dinner bell ringing all day at our shoots and the local archery sales guys have the biggest smiles on their faces
I have a simular rabbit . In the hole fits a tennisball perfectly.
