Waaaah! Looks like the old one is gone. Just thot I'd try to start a new one. Will try a pix next.
Testing! :scared:
Boy am I good or what?
The pix didn't show for me in the preview tho. Hmmm
Edit: Ok I did find them with the Search function.
Gun,
Preview does not show pictures in this new format - only text. There is one more step to post pictures at full size. You have to click the ( Insert Attachment) field to the right of the Browse box. Old eyes appreciate the full size pictures. :o

Great bows.......wish I had gotten one earlier, but now that I do I really like shooting them.
I bought mine new in 1971 or 72. Can't remember back that far now:)
I think it was the first year the victor viking came out.
Anyone Know how to date old bear bows by the serial #?
[attachment=1]
About the bow in the picture... one of if not the best shooting bow I ever owned. However! It blew a limb (75#) and damn near knocked me down. I returned it only to have the replacement blow up a year later. Same result. Knocked me senseless for a bit.
I sold it :banghead: and of course regretted it to this day. The buyer wouldn't sell it back :dunno: Don't know where it is today.
By the way it was a first generation B riser. Here it is in action.

One of my favorite pictures Charlie! I hunted with a newer one this last fall. Never had any shots unfortunately.
*have a picture but apparently it's too big straight off the phone. Oh well. Resized!

Varmint... love the photo. Great form too. :archer2:
Thanks Charlie! I had to put the camera wedged in a corn stalk to get it.

Looks like yours has been photoshopped.[attachment=1,msg2788304]
I love so much to see pics of the man himself, thanks for posting
[attachment=1]
All these posts are fabulous, thanks for feeding the addiction.
I have 3 TDs, a collection of misc limbs & draw #'s; the options are so fun.
***Question for Varmint et al.: 1st, BTW, well done w/ the camera in corn stalk,
My inquiry is about hearing, and possibly seeing in your photo, the practice of adding padding to string below end loops.
If this is the case, I'm interested in the how-to (I'm assuming this helps with limb slap & silencing).
Thanks in advance!
I rapidly became a fan after trading for my 1st Bear T/D earlier this year. I'll try to get some photos up later (that'll give me an excuse to try it out).

Not exactly the "action" shots that you were probably looking for, but these are the ones that I got that helped convince me to swap for it.

Gun Lemke....you no good low down scoundrel. After you talked me down from buying another bow last year......namely a Bear takedown..... ya go and post this..... You dog.
:dunno:
Rob sent you a PM
I have 3 of them. A 1970 Type II(brown Bears) , a green stripe and a 2015 two tone. Love them all. Will try and get a pic and get it posted.
This was first blood with my Bear Takedown.
A length riser with #1 limbs 55# @28". 56" long.

You posted a thumbnail picture, which is fine.
After you select your picture from your PC or phone, just to the right of the little window where the picture name appears, click ( Insert Attachment 1 ). That will make the picture full size in your post.

Any of you guys know how to date old bear bows?
I bought mine new in 1971 or so, just can't remember.
[attachment=1]
C handle 2000 range serial numbers with gold script, 1971 or 1972. Given it's very low 2000, my guess 1971.
Thanks, Mike.
I know it was just after they hit the market...
Brain fart on my part, you said you bought it in 1971 :knothead:
No brain fart.. :archer:
I said..
I bought mine new in 1971 or so, just can't remember.
I knew it was 71 or 72, but could not remember...
That is beautiful riser wood in that "A" handle,John HV,and a great picture.
Thanks Jim. She's a looker and shoots good too!
[attachment=1,msg2791337]My A handle with 54#,#1,Rose Oak limbs,SBD string,Bow Hush and Hush Puppies.I love this bow.
Honestly, I bought my bear take down in 1971.
The grip on it just fits my hand like a glove.
It is the best shooting bow I have ever shot since 1971.
And she has a lot of notches in her riser from the deer she has put on the ground..
Sweet bow, Jim...

This was my first hunt with my brand new "a" riser "a" limbs 52# bear and I love it
Awesome, congrats.
Gotta love those Bear TDs. After building a bit of a collection, I am down to just a few risers and sets of limbs. I am keeping what I have.
I picked up a set of Border limbs that make a 60" bow on an A riser. They absolutely smoke an arrow. Yikes they are fast.
Let's see more Bear TD's
One of 4 that I still have...
I sold off a bunch a few years ago. Love the way this riser feels in my hand.

A very early Greenstripe that I have.... mint condition.
I also have the original 45# limbs that came with it, also mint.

I used to own this one. Regret selling it every time I think about it! :readit: Are the newer ones any good?
That looks to be a 1997 model. I think the new one's are very decent. I really like the B riser with #1 limbs, makes a smooth shooter for my 26.5" draw. Does anyone here have one of the new black phenolic risers to show????
Good eye! It is a '97 B riser w/50@28" limbs. Made a 60" bow. Dang I loved that thing!
I have 4 now......an A and B Mag and an A and B 2011 red stripe.........I really like them. Bowdoc got me interested while in Bear Quest and I fell hook line and sinker.........lol !!! They do shoot nice.
I just added another 90's model to my small horde. This time I'll be keeping it! Cannot show pics 'til it gets here. It's coming from our own member Sam Stephens so, it has some mojo. :goldtooth:
Whoohoo, I'm back in the game! My 90's model T/D showed up today and I'm loving it! It is a bit heavy for me at the moment but, I was able to pull it back a couple of times. I've got a set of older red tip limbs coming that will give me a 62" bow and 43#'s so, that will be nice.

Good looking riser. Have fun with it.
Yes I will! This bow has lots of Mojo as it has taken a bunch of critters. It was the original owners first Bear T/D.
See if this works.

That sure is a beauty!
I know. Almost hard to shoot it lol. However I owe it to myself to set it up and hunt her......
