Hi Fellas just got this one shooting last week ,built it for a all day shooter for 3 D 46 lb @30 68 1/2 ntn got about 350 arrows threw it now has nice cast and dead in the hand , real easy shooter , I hate posting links but cant figure this imgur thing out hope it works https://imgur.com/a/vWieT
Yellowwood, when you click on the pic and your choices come up, go with the next to the bottom one. That will post pics and not a link.
I think your bow came out real nice. Should be a good all day shooter.
Thanks Pat Im using the Iphone app and it doesent give me the option maybe try it on my computer at home thanks !
Very nice yellowwood. Nice bend on that one. I love a longer bow as far as how it feels when shooting, but about 67" is the max that fits in my truck cab.
Your bamboo looks a little thick, but shouldn't be an issue with hickory. May want to make sure it's thinner if you use a belly wood like ipe.
The app is great for uploading pics. When you post the pic, use your web browser to get the desktop version of imgur.
The desktop version has the different links.
Thanks guys I will eventualy figure it out on imgur bmorv the thickness was a little shy of 1/8!left it about 12/1000 thicker on the bottom limb Im trying osage on the next when I get around to it !
Nice.
Are you talking about 1/8" on the edge thickness? or 1/8" at the crown in the middle?
If you are talking about 1/8" at its thickest then that's perfect, and my eyes are off.
Either way it works on this bow!
It's 1/8 at the crown or a little shy of that the edges are paper thin never had making a boo backed bow I was a little worried about making weight in my mind at that length and tell I started floor tiller I could have easely got 60 lb. out of it !
Easy to make weight with a 30" draw. A lot scarier to tiller though. But that's a tough combo you got there and your tiller looks good.
I have made sinew & raw hide backed bows before but never tried the boo, I'm very impressed with it ,I wanted to make the core osage but didn't want to part with any the staves I have but after I'm done with the Kennym bow I want to try osage as the core there fun bows to make ! and impressive performance it's shooting a 509 grain arrow at 173fps
That's impressive for 46 lbs. Bamboo is bad a$$ when prepared properly and matched with a strong belly. Not the easiest to prepare and ya have those nodes to tiller around. It's worth the extra work imo.
The longer draw helps with the speed but still impressed me but that doesent take much
I'm assuming you glued in some reflex. How much did you start with? Looks like you picked the right amount.
It had about 2 1/4 in. Reflex off the form and after tiller it stayed slightly positive most of the reflex was in the upper third for this one it ended up for a easy drawing bow the next I want to see if I can hold some more reflex or curf a recurve in or both . with using hickory wasnt sure where I was going to end up reflex wise .
With my hickory backed lemonwood bow I started with about 3" of reflex or slightly less and off the form was about 2 1/4". After shot in I expect maybe 1" of reflex or maybe flat.
Thats about the same here Pat I think it was 3 in. on the form 2 1/4 off I was hopping to hold more but live and learn I will know on the next !
Nice looking bow YW.
Thanks mwosborn ! & every body !
Yep I like those plain jane style bows. They don't need metallic paint jobs and mag wheels to turn heads, they turn heads doing what their meant to do and doing it well.
