Title: G10119 Bandsaw
Post by: jess stuart on October 22, 2016, 06:28:00 PM
I have a chance to buy a old Grizzly G1019 bandsaw for a good price.  Anyone have any experience with this model, it has been discontinued so probably no parts available.

If it is the 3/4 horse motor you might find yourself wanting more hp down the road

Does the 19 mean 19 in.? If so the 3/4 would be small. I am thinking my 14 has 1 horse.

If its a good deal and it's better than what you currently have I say go for it.  Grizzly makes good saws.  When I first started out I was roughing out osage bows on 9" 1/3 hp bench top band saw.  It was slow but it got the job done, eventually.  If you find the 3/4 hp isn't strong enough you could resell it and upgrade to a more powerful saw.  Just curious, what are they asking for it?

No Mike it is a 14" saw that has been discontinued  and replaced by another model.  My old saw has a 3/4 hp motor and worked pretty well, of course I only build glass bows.  My old Delta (1946) the shaft bearings seized up and when tyring to pull them with a gear puller had a wheel break.

As for parts. Bearings are no problem using after market bearings.
The manual is still available on line.

I would call Grizzly and ask about replacement tires etc.
They are good people to talk to.

I have a 1073 2 hp 16" and I can get parts from Grizzly. Go to their web site and see if you can find parts.
