For some reason, I felt the need to make another bow and decided to put my other hobbies to the side and blow off the hot box...
A few things I wanted to incorporate were:
Belly mounted limbs
Consistent grip
Short riser with a long working limb
The riser is curly maple with a g10 core
Each limb is made up of 4 bamboo lams sandwiched between two pcs of dyed curly maple. (Thanks Troy)
I wanted something a little different on the overlays, so I had my daughter and my niece help me make some burlap micarta. I've never seen it on a bow before but I think it compliments the maple nicely.

It will defiantly be in the woods with me this year and hopefully it will be making the trip to Texas next year when we head down to visit the famous Crittergetter!
Should shoot as good as it looks
Very cool!
What kind of resin is on the burlap? I like that a lot.

Nice work Thad! Very cool design.
Nice job on that one! I like the burlap overlays too!
Good to see ya on,Thad! Excellent job, and that burlap would be killer with carbon limbs I bet!
Thanks guys,
We made the micarta by soaking the burlap in smooth~on and layering about 4 pieces high.
Then we made a press out of some old lumber and clamped it down..
The next day I ran it through the thickness sander and voila burlap micarta!
Fun project for sure, Ive seen some really nice knife handles made from it and that gave me the idea..
I agree on the carbon burlap combo Kenny, that would look sweet!
I'm in love with that bow. Very awesome.
I would like to know how you made the burlap micarta. I really like that. I do t know if it's just the pictures but it almost looks metallic. Using it on the tip overlays really ties it in.
Very nice...Love the burlap accents!
Beautiful bow! Looks very fast.
Great looking bow
Man!! That's slicker than a greased pig!!! What else you good at? :biglaugh:
We'll Put that sucker to use when you get down this way!! That'll definitely do the trick!!

Thanks for the kind words guys!
Randy, you crack me up! We can't wait to make the trip down there... very excited!
I'm wondering of that burlap micarta makes the bow fast flight compatible? Maybe a dumb question, I don't know. Pardon the ignorance.

Jeremy, Im sure it is... It doesn't seem any different than linen phenolic to me?
:dunno:
Could you please tell us what you dyed your maple veneers with.they look great.
Scott, those actually came from Troy pre-dyed...
Im not too sure what he uses?
Kinda' reminds me of Alabama Chrome(duct tape), but then again, I am a selfbow guy.
