I had originally posted this in the Pow-wow, but figured there might be some guys who only frequent the bench who'd be interested.
It was actually pretty easy to build one. I gathered as many different plans from the internet as I could. Initially, I had plans to make it adjustable in a couple planes so that I could fine tune the arrow location relative to the wire and quickly swap carbon or wood arrows with different diameters. In the end I stuck with a more simple design.
For the power source, I used a Lionel model 1016 from e B a y, which was $10. For wire I used 24 AWG Nichrome 80, which was $5.89 on Amazon. I used brass nuts and washers for holding the power and burning wires in place on the bolts.

Great video. Thanks for posting.
Nice video! I know sometime in the future I'd like to get into feather burning, but I wasn't sure the route I wanted to take to get there. While I really like some of the nice looking box burners that have been posted here, your setup looks like a good way to get one together if aesthetics is secondary to function.
ty_in_ND you could make a bigger box and put a train transformer in it.
