Title: Bandsaw
Post by: KellyG on April 06, 2016, 07:42:00 AM
I can get this for about 75 bucks if it is still there. I have been watching it for about a month.

What I don't know is how hard is the decks to get, I did not see any model numbers on this one.

So info would be great. I know who makes it but not the size.

A new 9" 1/3 hp Grizzly G0803 sells for $190. By the time you buy a table and fence..

Kelly, have you checked Craigslist for used Band Saws? There are always 12" Craftsman saws for sale..most are 1/2hp with cool block type guides, but could be a better choice than the bench top Grizzly G1052 that needs parts. My shop has several pieces of equipment I found on Craigslist..

Robertshishes,

I am just asking to see if it would be worth the money. I have 2 bench tops at my house in KS. They don't do me any good here in GA. I seen this one and did not know much about it. Heck I might be able to get it for less I have not really tried. Just asked about it this last weekend.

But do you know the model? so I can look up the part.

thanks,

Kelly

it looks like a Grizzly G1052. If they have all the parts from trunion up.. then you might be looking at $80 of parts?

Where does the table mount on that model? Only trunion mounts on the back?  I am not familiar with benchtop models, but I need to invest in one. changing blades gets old.

I would not pay $75 for that saw in that condition with the missing parts.  The bearing rollers look rusty and are probably bad.

I vote NO as well, under powered, too many missing parts and you can get a complete American made older Craftsman 12" for about the same money off Craig's List.

I made about 50 bows on my old 1/2 horse Craftsman. With a sharp 1/2" 3tpi blade it would handle most bow making tasks except for ripping logs.

That's why I love this site. I can pass on it now with out any worries. Ever if it is a grizzy.

Thanks

Keep checking craigslist every day.  If you get the app on your phone you can set it to notify you when a new post matches your saved searches.
