Just curious as I'm looking to switch up my riser blank designs. What do you guys recommend as the X and Y dimensions? (The y is by the 19", but the way the light hits the pencil it's hard to see). Thanks!

I see it, but I don't understand the question? :confused:
This is what most bowyers use as a general rule of thumb.
---use the following lengths for the Handles;
62" ~ 15"
64" ~ 17"
66" ~ 19"
68" ~ 21"
Not talking about overall riser length. I'm talking about after you fade the tips what is your length remaining on the belly side of the riser. Hence the X measurement.
The one I'm working on now is 16" overall X would equal 4.25" and y will equal 2.125" but that is a Hill style ASL FYI
Perfect. That's exactly the info I'm looking for!
so the way you measure for a self bow- or rather the way i measure is - the central axis of your "middle finger"- is the center of the bow- so 1.25 " above that is your arrow shelf. and 3,25" below that is the rest of your handle- and where it would transition to the fade. and if you want to make the riser symmetrical- then 3.25" above the center for the top fade transition, so in effect you have 2" for a sight window.
if your hands are bigger- adjust the measurements accordingly- i know yer got big mitts ya gorilla- you might need a 24" riser :D
thats just for how i do my self bows- except i dont make the riser symmetrical- and have a longer top limb than the bottom
cheers mate-
call me if thats unclear!
Thanks Wayne! I'll give you a buzz tommorow
