So I made the printed off pic of the whip into a scaled drawing to figure the curve of the limbs. Then made half the pattern on a Peice of 1/4" ply, then used this to make both halves of the full size 1/4" ply pattern. Then transferred to 3/4" material twice to make my 1 1/2" thick full length form. I rough cut the form, and next, I'll route out the finished form using the 1/2" straight bit and let the edge of my router base follow the 1/4 inch  full length pattern.   I'll post more as I go.

Got my walnut this evening. I found a 2x4 around 7 feet long with some nice straight grain in there. Straightened and flattened two sides on the jointer, and then table sawed some pieces that are 1 3/4" wide x 24" longX 1/4" thick.  These I got glued, clamped and in the oven as I type. I have some time tomorrow to bandsaw the riser section out and maybe sand it down.

Oh. Forgot to mention, ran the riser laminations through the thickness planer and took all the table saw marks out of them, I need to replace the blade and it left some burn marks on there. Lol. Anyway, they ended up being about 3/16" thick after planing them. They were too smooth for the glue up straight off the planet so I roughed them up with a jigsaw blade before applying the smooth on.

Used the jointer to straighten my riser blank, decided to add another Peice to the back side, so I found a piece of red oak to sandwich for an accent strip. Roughed all glue surfaces and applied the smooth on, It is back in the oven as I type.

Here is a pic of my homemade lam grinder. It is a 2hp pool pump motor with homemade sanding drum attached to the shaft. Using 50 grit floor sanding paper on the drum. Local hardware didn't have 36. I'll just rough them up more with a hacksaw blade.

yep... if it can go wrong... I did the second bake at my dads. his oven has the dial on it, mine at home is digital. I set it on 180 and 4 hours later I had a scorched and delaminated mess. it was pure carnage. idk.... I have a good piece of walnut that has tight grain rings and is perfectly quartersawn... im thinking of using it as a one piece riser without any laminations. Ill do some thinking about it while I am working today and tomorrow and then give it another go.

I would like to see your build but you need to post the pictures as an image with (//"image%20link") bbcode so we can see the photos. It is too cumbersome to open each link individually. That is probably why you haven't had any responses. Get the images posted as we would enjoy seeing them and give you feedback. Looks like you put plenty of work into posting your build.

50 grit is more than enough- i use 120- never had a delamination yet

Fuji--smooth  on recommends 120g in their specs

yup it does Bamboo, and also, at the time it was all i had - so have stuck with using it- must say- that when i am about to grind lams- i always use fresh 120 grit paper- not the older stuff that i have used on other parts of the bow- but when i buy again- i might just buy 80 grit
