Found a local wood yard that has air dried stock. Here's my choices. White oak, red oak, red maple, ash, aspen, cherry, black birch, and hickory.
I Could use some advise as to what to choose for a back, core and belly.
royzdaman!
ass'im!
Ash and Hickory depending on grain run out.
A 1/8" thick strip of hickory is my favorite backing for tri-lam bows. I'd pick a lighter wood like cherry or red maple for the core and hickory again for the belly. Too bad lumber yards don't carry osage, the best belly wood IMO.
X'2 on Macbow. See if they have red elm...
Thanks. Going to try hickory back and belly, cherry core.
