I would shoot a bunny, then skin it, then treat the hide, then cut it into 1/8" wide strips and glue it on. So easy a cave man could doit..  :)

My current and first set is equipped with bought tracers- but I`ve heard those zonker strips used for flyfishing are even better.

I have used zonker strips. They work great and are already stripped into 1/4" or so strips and comes in different colors. Being already stripped you don't get an itchy nose from the floating bunny fur...and they are about $1.50 per package.
I prefer the white because it is visible in all light conditions.  use fletch tape to install them.

how much do they detract for the performance of the arrow- or is it negligible ?
wanting to do something for when i am shooting at grouse- easier to find my broadhead equipped arrows.
its not that i am missing the grouse or anything, jus wanting to find my arrows, just sayin...   :D    :D

Rabbit fur is thin and soft enough that they lay down when shot and "puff" out when they hit. I haven't noticed any performance loss.

I've used dyed down feathers too. They seemed to work well. Like the ones you'd see for fly tieing.
