Title: My second Bow of 2013
Post by: BigIndian on September 01, 2014, 04:41:00 PM
This one is a Hickory backed with bamboo.  I had some trouble with my glue-up and one of the limbs separated.  I roughed both pieces up and glued them back together.  I made it for a buddy of mine.  I liked it so much I am making one for myself to hunt this year. I finished the glue-up and wondering if using a bandsaw to remove the bulk of the wood and shape the handle is taking away from the traditional side of things.  The first one was done with rasps and scrapers, what a job that was.  I want to move quicker with this one so it will be ready for hunting season and some practice before hand.  Any thoughts?
I don't know how to add pics.  Any help out there?

I use Photobucket to post pics.  You upload the pics to their site and then copy and paste the IMG code of them to your post.
I sure don't see anything wrong in using power tools to make the job less of a chore.  I use a table saw and jig saw to rough the bow in.  There is still more than enough rasping and scraping left to do for tillering and shaping the handle as far as I'm concerned.
