Title: Just bought a slab of mango, tips on resawing?
Post by: bornofmud on August 17, 2014, 10:50:00 PM
So, just got a nice big chunk of some super pretty mango, was wondering if you guys have any tips on resawing it into veneers.  It's 1" thick, how many clean veneers do you think I could get from that?  The piece is 71"x11.5"x1", but is pointed at the end of the top half, so I'll probably only get two clean 34"+ x 1.5" from that half.  Here's some pics of what I'm working with.  Thanks!

Also, was going to fill gaps/cracks/voids with thin CA glue (except for that one at the bottom, just cut around that, and maybe the ones in the knot).  Good idea?

Looks good ! I use a band saw and a drum sander and get around 8 veneers per inch.
