Here's my no-prosthetic grip version of the short, radical decurve/recurve bow which JamesV designed.
Several others, including Tenbrook, make similar designs with modern prosthetic, hand-filling handles.
James was kind enough to send me a copy sketch of his form design. Since I'm more traditional than most, I prefer shooting off the hand Asian style, and wanted that short, radical de/re design but without the modern handle. Et voila!

This is just cleaned up out of the form. It's the full 1.5" wide, with 1/2" wide pin nocks (another Asian design bit). 44" nock-to-nock. With this tight bastard string it draws 35+ @ 26". The stack is .16 -- .03 x2 glass, .07 Red Elm and .03 red Bow Tuff. The riser is 14" long and 1.25" deep.
This is super simple to build on a 2x10 rubberband form and would be a great starter for someone's first wood-glass composite.
Very nice Ken!
Oh, me like! It looks great, but how does it shoot? Those ends look static, though. Do they open up during the draw?
Pictures would help explain...
I like those short recurves! I wonder if one could be built using all natural bamboo?
Dave.
I like it too :jumper:
hurry up, more pictures :)
Here's a link to JamesV's build, with shot of the bow at reasonably full draw:

Bamboo? Sure, as lams between glass.
Very nice! I love the look, feel, and performance of Asian bows...and 35#@26" is my draw weight/length. :) . I might have to take a "walk on the wild side" and build my first glass bow now!
Ken...................
Very nice job on the little bow, let us know how she performs.
James
That is one snappy shooter! Narrowed it to 1.25" and it came out 28# @ 26", just perfect for my kind of roving.
When you draw, those recurves unwind; and when you release they wind back up and sure make an arrow scoot!
Very neat! I would like to see an un braced pic if you got one.
Unbraced it is. Stlll got scraps of rubber across the riser from the glue up...
