Title: Tack cloth
Post by: Kopper1013 on July 19, 2014, 04:37:00 PM
Ok guys I started my finish process and I read a couple of old forums about Tru-oil and guys using tack cloth in between coats after rubbing down with #0000 steel wool. Well... The tack cloth left a really takey film that wouldn't dry, can I put the Tru-oil right over this or should I rub it down with acetone and start my next coat?

I agree, wipe it down good with a solvent.....acetone or perhaps alcohol.

I've given up on tack cloth for just that reason. Now I use one of those micro-fiber cloths - one of the ones with a bit of pile to it. Seems to do a good job of getting rid of the dust.

I blow off with compressed air ( away from where I finish) and wipe down with methanol.
