Hey guys getting ready to finish my first lam-glass bow,
Wondering if any of you had used Helmsman's teak oil to finish a glass bow?
If you have how did it come out? I'm a little worried cause it penetrate's the wood that when you look through the clear glass you'll be able to see that line of how far it penetrated (if that makes sense). Would I just be better off using the helmsman poly? I was just thinking cause I haven Brazilian teak in my riser might be nice. Thoughts?
Also in a related note what grit sand paper are you guys going up to before applying your first coats of finish?
I tried teak oil and I could never get it to even out, stayed streaky. I don't have that problem with wipe on polly.
I don't use Helmsman Teak Oil. I do use their Spar Varnish very successfully.
True oil and helmsman spar urethane. Sand glass with 220 then 320 finish sand it. 320 every thing.
