Has any one made a riser from bamboo floor?
:dunno:
Don't think I would trust it.
Mark................
I have used bamboo flooring as accents and I beams in risers but not for a complete riser, I think it would look too blan without any contrast, but with a dark walnut accent it would be dazzling. As strong as bamboo flooring is I think it would be bullet proof.
James
I have also used it as thin accent pieces in the riser and think it would probably be ok as riser material but as James says without dying it would be bland.
If you used vertical laminated strips in a 1 piece bow riser I think it would work fine. I think an all bamboo bow would be an interesting look.
The node area has a good look, kind of a birds eye look
I would stand the flooring on edge and glue 4 pieces
side by side

I would question the glue they use to glow it all together. Here where the humidity is around 7% all the time that stuff start to twist warp and separate in about a year when used as flooring. If you picked up some bamboo strips that we're not laminated and glued them up yourself with a good bow making glue I think you would be on to something pretty cool.
The glue used by the manufacture was my concern. If I'm right they use a ureia (sp) glue.
I tried making a fly rod using some of the vertical grain flooring and it fail in the factory joints.
I was thinking the same about the factory glue. To not rely on that factory glue joint, I was thinking about a riser glued up like Mark indicated (but rotated 90 degrees). In Mark's example, I am thinking that each [[[[[[[[ is a strip of vertically laminated bamboo (so in the example posted there are 4 lams glues together).
