Looking for some helpful suggestions.. Good reason to have a clean work bench. I have a sinew backed maple self bow that is in tillering stage. I was helping my son work on his boat and accidentally sprayed WD40 on the sinew backing (not sealed with anything) about a 5" of the bow.
How do I clean it off without damaging the sinew?? The sinew was put on with hide glue. This is my first attempt at sinew backing and I'm I worried I blew it. Sinew has been dry since last fall.
Any ideas are welcome. Really worried that washing it with some Palmolive or something will lift the sinew.

Leave it sit for a few days. It should work its way out. This is another reason I use Titebond III with my sinew. The tb seals the sinew off.
You're not in too bad of shape though. On my last bow, I sanded the sinew smooth and put an oil based stain on it. I let that dry and sprayed poly on it. It hasn't hurt the sinew one bit.
That was with TBIII though not hide glue. I'm not sure what effect it will have on hide glue.
Try wiping it with a cloth with alcohol or acetone. Both will flash off and neither should affect the sinew/hide glue. Use which ever solvent sparingly and do a test first where it won't matter.
Yep, I would have immediately used a solvent that evaporates quickly, alcohol or laquer thinner. Won't hurt it a bit.
