Hi all.
New here and was wondering if anyone has ever cut the limbs off a long bow and used them on a 3 pc takedown? I have this longbow that is too short for me and want a way I can lengthen it.
Thanks
Tim
Hi 2Tim, welcome, that is some very nice work you do down there my friend, that fixed blade with the red milkwood and the 1070 'hawk... pretty cool stuff.
As far as the chopped limb 3pc, thats something I havent done, but, crazier things have been, possibly by someone on here, just a case of whether they want to admit to it or not.
Wouldn't be past tryin it, as long as the fades on the limbs make a decent wedge. My TD has a wedge 8" long with a straight wedge starting at .300" thick , just for reference....
Welcome also!
I think I saw a thread about this being done once ... I remember thinking that I'd never have the stones to do it.
But i think it's totally reasonable. The biggest thing is making sure yiou have ehough wedge material on the top limb and th esight window cutout doesn't screw things up.
I'll see if I can find a link to that thread tomorrow.
Welkom meneer, trek n' stoel nader! :D
baie mooi werk! :clapper:
Thanks all. I used to make laminated longbows about 6 yrs back - expensive hobby!
It's a short "brush bow" made for Steve Alger at 75#, so you can imagine the finger pinch. Really nice to shoot but gets uncomfortable quick. Just thought that a takedown that would extend it would make for a smother bow that I can use instead of a wall hanger.
