I'm nearly finished with 3 kids bows made with 1/4" red oak slats, what would be the best simple string I could get at the local stores?building themselves been a lot of fun,got the materials to start on my own next thanks to the info here on trad gang. Thanks
For what you would spend on three strings you can buy material to build a hundred. Gotta make your own strings if your gonna make you own bows ;)
I will consider that a good answer Eric, just don't have much spare time! Maybe someday. Thanks
spiderwire fishing line works good... almost no stretch. Masons string also works well. Do a flemish twist.
takes 15 minutes to make a string... and just as long to learn. ya got time to make 3 bows.... and youre not going to find the right string at any local store... unless you live next to 3 rivers or lancaster.
What these guys are saying is right on the mark.
PM me and maybe we can work something out for now.
