Well I though it was time to start making my own bow laminations and this is what I made.
Matt no pics or videos brother! I really want to see this.

Had some trouble getting the photos to work
Well to start I grabbed a peace of 4'x4' MDF. I got a 3/4 hp motor for $20 at a garage sale. (big steal!) Really all you need a 1/4 hp or 1/2 hp. But hey this will never have an issue lol!

I cut it down 2 pieces of 17"x18" MDF. I glue two 3/4 sheets together to create the base. Also I cut 2 @ 9"x10" for the base of the motor.

An issue I had was that the shaft of the motor was 5/8 and my drum sander shafts where 1/2. I found a bushing and cut a slit in it so it will hold tight once i get the set screws tightened.

Here is the 5/8 collar that I picked up.

And she fits like a charm.

One thing I wanted on this was a witch so I decided to wire it up next. Here is a quick look.

The next thing to do is build the ramp for the spend for you laminations. I made this 20"x 4" and use two pieces for this. Also I used a simple hinge to hold these together.

You need a way to adjust the angle of the ramp. A simple bolt will do the trick with a nut glued into the bottom portion of the ramp. NOTE that that there is some over hang for the ramp. I originally cut mine the same length of the base :bang head:

All you need to do next is add a hood for dust collection and make some sleds for you laminations. Ill post some more picks once I get back into the shop. Was able to make some .020 veneers the other day with this. Very happy!

very cool-
I used the same style drum on mine and found that the outer black layer on the drum is much softer than the white colored core.
Mine was grinding the edges of the lams more than the center.
I trued the drum down to the hard core and now the lams come out with very little side to side variation.
I also had trouble with regular sandpaper ripping very easily. I settled on cutting strips from a sanding belt and winding them wround the drum.
Let us know if you encounter any of these problems and how you solve them if you do!
Cool build along.
