Darn nice bow Bub.
Man I love the way that one looks!! Rawhide turned out great.
Is the buckthorne a local wood to you? That is a new one to me.
That looks awesome. I've never heard of buckthorne that I know of. Great looking bow.
Nice looking bow - looks like you got it bending just right!
Very nice bub...gonna have to see if the stuff I have is dry
Looks sweet
Sweet bow, Bub.
I got this buckthorn from a buddy in Chicago but I know it grows out here, also related to cascara
fine ringed and works easy, the sapwood seems soft but is great in tension, pretty wood too
Nice, Bubby
Looking good. Bue--.
Very nice!! Where is the buckthorn from? I've Never heard of it either.
That's very nice!
I like it!
Very nice!
Very nice bow . :clapper: do you know if you used alder buckthorn as we have some of that over here and might have to go foraging
thanks guys, draffish i'm not sure but what does it hurt to cut some and give it a go
Buckthorn grows all over the place here. It is a nasty invasive that takes over everything and the critters don't touch it. I don't know where it came from.

nasty, invasive and makes great bows, seems like more guys would be cutting it for staves
I chopped down all that the former owner put on the edge of my yard....never had a clue that it could be possible bow staves!

Super sweet bow!

Love the look of your bow and the look of that wood! Gonna have to call my local DNR office to see if they let you cut it on state land. They usually only let you take deadfalls or standing deadwood, but since it's invasive...well, I should find out. Nice work on a great looking bow!
Awesome bow Bubby. I just got couple of pieces of buckthorn and have never tried it before. Hope mine turns out as nice as yours. That one looks like a sweet shooter to me.
