Title: hotbox

Soooo i was reading vocabulary section and when i red about hotbox : used to SPEED UP drying time.... r u kidding me? This whole last 2 months ive been putting off my ipe bamboo builds cause i hadnt built a hotbox yet... i have the urac stuff ad recomended by so many. And not once have i read anywhere that you dont HAVE to use a hotbox... i thought it was crucial in the process  :(  ... well gessh so i let it dry for a few days im in no hurry... ugh if i had known id had already started on my ipe bamboo bows  :(

With Urac all you need is 24 hours at 70deg I think. A hot box will make the glue set faster but it will work without one.

as long as youre over 70 youre fine.  urac says it needs 70 to cure... it never gets that warm in my basement... so .... hotbox

Nope, not necessary, but recommended.  A lot of us use smooth on which cures better (more strength and in 1/6th the time) at around 150, and possibly gives the glue a bit more heat resistance. Not sure if urac does the same thing.

I've used both trueshot. I definitely prefer smooth on. Had a BBH fail with urac. Probably just the user, but never had any problems with smooth on and hot box. They are really easy to build.
