Title: wood combos w/bubinga
Post by: Jim Rocole on January 31, 2014, 08:50:00 AM
i have a pile of bubinga riser material. I am looking for another wood to pair with in the riser. Any suggestions or pics?

Wenge, walnut, anything dark.

That would be a very long list!  Most woods would probably pair well with bubinga.  Figured maple, bubinga, laurel, myrtle, I'd say really anything that contrasts it.  The only combo that might look weird is another red wood for the lam, like moradillo or coco, but heck, those would probably look good too!  Hahah.

I'd look around google for 'bubinga riser bow' in the image search and just see what you like best!

I would go with as much contrast as possible.  So...I think it would be good with anything dark like wenge or anything light like maple and light myrtle.

One of my favorite combos is Bubinga mixed with Zebrano

I have a chunk of Zebrawood and shedua so I may try both. weather stinks so its time to build bows.
