Title: Hickory backing
Post by: Ironfist_Canada on January 29, 2014, 07:35:00 PM
I used to get my hickory backing from Ron at  the Wood Shed in Boise ID  I heard he no longer grinds the best backing I have ever used. Where can I get the very best backings?. Thanks   John.

Thanks macbow  I just looked at his website and it looks like he does good work.  Ron used to grind his backing edge grain and biased. I have never had a failure with his hickory .

I didn't know Kenny sells hickory backings also! This is revolutionary if true. Quality backings, and quality lam grinding in one shot, perfect since I often use a tapered backing on tri-lams.

You'll have to check with Kenny but a couple of years ago I bought some for some kids bows I made.
