I want to get an osage stave but don't want to spend a fortune. Where is the best place to get one without breaking the bank is this possible. Do any of u guys have any for sale. Thanks
There should be plenty in KY. Have you looked in your area? Maybe at a feed and seed store sold as fence posts.
I'm in the southeastern part of the state. I haven't seen a hedge apple tree around here since I was a young buck and that was just one tree.
look at the sponsors here. I think there are a couple here. I know semohunter use to see them but I have not seen him on in a while.
Semo is still under the associate sponsor list.

Pm him he had real good staves.
I wish there was good Osage around here. When you do find one, it's an Osage bush. Whee in Ky are you talking about Pat ? I'll check it out .
I don't know specifically but I'm sure there must be some around there somewhere.
I hadn't noticed much around here either til I really started looking and asking around.
I cut osage around Frankfort, Shelbyville, Louisville, E-Town, and Northern KY when I lived there. It was very common in those areas.
What's breaking the bank? Mike from Pine Hollow Longbows sells staves and I'm sure other sponsors too, he just came to mind. If you cut your own it's gonna take some time to dry. Not sure when Ojam or Mojam is but I bet you can get some staves there. But then you got gas to worry about.
Agree. Mike from Pine Hollow Longbows has good prices on full length boards, or billets.
Your probably not that far from me. If you can wait til the first of May I think the Tennessee Classic is then and there is always a lot of osage staves for sale. Plus its a great weekend. I have an absolute blast there every year.
I think I would have left the some more meat around those knots. Just a little more
When you tiller, leave the knotted area a bit stiffer.
I probably would remove that drying check. I think that was a good suggestion. If you do how much wood would you nave left?
Have you bent that stave yet?
