For those of you that spray finish your bows, do you all have booths, or how do you do it? I sprayed my last couple with spar urethane in the basement and it stunk it up pretty good. The bow also stinks 2 weeks later, so I'm not crazy about working with that, and want to try something else on the next one.
Krystal has me looking twice, but again - I don't know how wise it would be to spray in the basement without a booth.
The other 2 options I'm considering are True Oil and Teak Oil wipe on finishes.
I use spray in the more temperate months when I can spray outside. But anytime I can't, I use some type of rub on, usually teak oil.
Does the teak oil smell much, John?
no
I built a spray booth and room in the corner of my basement shop. I vent it to the outside when in use.
I spray in the cellar. I open a window or 2. Jawge
I use thunderbird lacquer finish which changes to polyurethane after 6 hours. I use HPLV spray gun and hange it on my gutter outside. But if I can't do that I will apply with a sponge brush and finish down after every coat. It takes about 15 mins for it to dry. But the last coat has to be on before the 6 hour time limit before it starts changing.
