Title: blanks to bow arrow build along?
Post by: wazabodark on January 02, 2014, 12:44:00 PM
Happy New Year, ya'll! I'm hoping someone can point me in the direction of a good arrow build along. Keeping in mind that to say I'm a po'boy is a gross understatement, i'll be starting with Doug fir boards that I can pick up at work. I have a full set of tools, so that part isn't a problem. But I will have to manufacture a fletching jig and spine tester. So plans for those things would be helpful as well. As always any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks-RD

You need to register over on the Primitive Archer site Ronnell. They have an arrow forum with about anything you're interested in..........Art

D fir will make you good arrows but probably not a bow. Better off with red oak or hickory boards. Check my site. Jawge

I have not tried it yet but here is a link to our friends down under and they have a simple spine tester.

I checked out your sight, George, and I love the broadheads from circ. saw blades idea. I probably have a dozen old blades laying around that I use for demo work. Let me ask though, do you treat or temper them somehow before sharpening, or will they take an edge as is?

What does the little thumbs down symbol between the arrow head and the post heading mean? Have I violated some kind of taboo? Let me know, please. I'll try not to do it again.

It's just an icon that the poster of the thread can use to identify what type of thread it is ... more likely than not you just accidentally clicked it, otherwqise I think it defaults to the yellow sticky note icon.
