I've used a water based stain on a selfbow.
What kind of clear finish can I use over this water based stain?????
Any.
let it dry good first, nock the fuzz off, wipe it down and seal.
I have had good luck with Satin DEFT, 2-3 coats and your good to go.
I use truoil over water based and have found that only two or three coats of it will still allow a damp cloth to wipe off some of the stain, especially if you are buffing the dry oil with steel wool between coats. So use at least 5 coats to seal properly.
Thanks everyone.
I like 3 coats of spar urethane sprayed on. Jawge
Any wood sealer will work, Joe. Might be a bow but it's still wood. My favorite is Tung Oil. True Oil is very good also.
