Gotta admit that I buttered her up some:) I bought her X-mas gift early, like two days ago. She has been using an old slow lap top to play games on and get online, and she has been complaining about it, so I took the hint.. I bought her a 23" HP all in one PC the other day...
Bingo it worked and she said OK, what kind of sander were you hinting about a month ago:) So ya see I am dumb, but not so dumb:) LOL
It's not a high tech sander like ole Kenny M has, but it will do everything I want to do..

Nice. Wish I lived closer so I could pretend to like you. It would be nice to have access to all those tools you have!
If you lived closer I'd have moved a long time ago... :biglaugh: :jumper:

just curious but what would be the benefit to having That over a thickness planner? I would love to have either one :campfire:
Looks like I gotta start another thumpin list for a Minnesota and Indiana boy:)
Somebody is spoiled!
LOL Mitch. We spoil each other, because we care about each other. That's how it should be:)

Soy with this you can make perfect tapered lams. It is more consistent than a thickness planer, as it has a conveyor belt that is adjustable for the input feed speed. . Plus it puts a rougher surface on the lam for a better glue joint.
But I already have a thickness planer:) The drum sander fine tunes the lams or whatever ya run through it.
Thanks for clearing that up
Yer smarter than the average bear Roy.
Soy, you better get both tools. You'll be happy that you did....then again, if you're married you might end up sleeping next to them.
Dave.
Roy you will like that tool. Cant tell you how many feet of lams been thru mine.
Mike, do you have the same model?
Ya Baby, wife is just now on her new PC right beside me ordering it:) I sent her an email directing her to the exact page.. I'm so sly:)
A Man gotta do what a Man gotta do:) LOL
Yeah Roy. Mine is about six years old. The new ones have the upgraded fed belt motor that I just had to replace. I you ever have to adjust the side to side tolerance the method they suggest I never could get to work well for me. The way I done it was to run a piece of plywood thru it about seven in. wide and adjust until I got both sides the same. Once I got it set I have not had to mess with it. If you take your time you can get it dead even on both sides. I would love to have another one. Just to have two different grits available at once. Kenny can fix you up with some sleds. You got to be nice to him though :bigsmyl:

Well played master! :notworthy: :notworthy: I'm trying to decide on an edge sander or drum sander, both will be great additions to my shop.
Cory
Nrevous finger.
Kenny already hooked me up with lam templates of various thickness. I made two sleds out of oak boards already. I'll experiment with those and go from there.
Cory I bought the edge sander in April:)
That's the exact same one I have. Your gonna like it bud. But after a while it'll just be ok. Then you'll want a twin roller model with digital thickness
roy
on the page you linked to they have the polar series model---$75 cheaper--I could be wrong but I think they are the same machine [different paint]might pay to call and ask
I run the polar and love it--$75 is a couple rolls of sand paper for it!!
those machines will take it to another level of accuracy for sure!
you driving over there? that's some showroom!!
I just checked and they are the same price.
looks like Roy is gearing up to do GLASS BOWS :) LOL
I'm coming to your house now when I need to prep lams ...who cares if I gotta drive an hour+ to do it :bigsmyl: and thanks to mama I don't need to buy one now cus I can just come over n use yours ;) ....hey..what ya doing this weekend :wavey: :goldtooth:
Oh that's right....ole Roy is beer hunting this weekend :biglaugh: .oops...I meant BEAR hunting :jumper: :jumper:
sweet!
:notworthy:
You got it right Roy - I am sure she enjoys spoiling you and you spoiling her! Enjoy the sander man! :bigsmyl:
Sitting in camp, got two inches of snow but damn its 3 degrees with the wind chill. I'm having an affair with the wood stove. LOL
That stuff went thru here yesterday, 20 mph and cooold but no precip.
8 degrees this morning but no wind, I'll be in a stand this eve if I can get stuff caught up. Good luck ol boy!
You guys got it so good! I have long lusted over a similar machine over here [not a grizzly tho] but they are at least double your advertised price, maybe more!
I guess you did ok.
It's here. Very well built.. I like it..

Dang, that's not fair Everytime I get a tool it has a ton of that nasty protective coating on it and it takes a couple days of degreasing. Looks great Roy.
Joe
Sweet looking machine!
Suggestion: hide the lockout from the Mrs.
Mine would lock it out til xmas and torture me by letting me look at it and not use it :(
Too clean. Get that thing DIRTY!!!
It's dirty now:)

Well Roy after you got your edge sander I shamed the wife into getting me one.
Been looking at the thickness sander you got for some time.
Can't do it now. Too many traveling expenses for the Holidays.
Keep the use reports coming.
Well, I am jealous! Got to have one too but I know Roy's technique prolly won't work round here....
Mac give me her phone number and I'll call her and try to help ya out:)
:nono: :nono:
That's ok Roy no telling what you'd tell her.
