Hi I just finished building a 50" Mongolian style fiberglass backed bamboo bow. Came out great but wanted to add details to it. Was wondering what you might use to glue birch bark or thin rawhide to fiberglass backing. What glue might be best or if I should just use the same epoxy I used for the fiberglass. any info would help. thanks
If it was snake skin then TB3 would work. Maybe even for the rawhide.
The bark I don't know.
I've glued birch bark onto wood bows using TBIII and it worked well. I don't know anything about how it adheres to glass ... but if macbow says it adheres to glass also, then I think you'd be ok with TBIII.
A word of caution ... any TBIII on the birchbark on the outside surface will cause discoloration when you add a finish so keep the glue on one side only .... don;t be a slob like me.
another suggestion would be to contact one stringer and see if he could make a bark limbsation..i know its not as cool or authentic as the real deal but i know glass can be kinda finicky...just another option.
