First and foremost, thanks for a great forum. I've been mostly lurking for quite a while now and trying to learn. I've finished my first bow.
Its a red oak board bow with a glued up handle. Its got a shelf cut in to centreshot and it came in at about 26#, which is about what I was looking for in my first bow. I have not had a chance to shoot it yet, but I'll report in a few days.I'd like to post some pictures, but I don't use any sort of internet album...I wish there was a way to upload pics from my computer :(
Here's the question. What should I put on the shelf, if anything to protect and make arrow flight smoother? I have some rabbit fur I can line the shelf with.
Use leather or soft velcro
The soft fuzzy part of Velcro. Use leather for the strike plate.
Congrats and welcome!
Stan
Thank you for the info. I think I have all that lying around the house.
The worst part of all this is that the bow is sitting here with a string all made up, the shelf lining and strike plate will be done tonight and I won't be able to shoot it for a few days yet....
Joe, go to postimage.org
So simple even I can use it.

I would imagine that rabbit fur trimmed down real short would work just fine, but the afore mentioned will probably work better. Welcome! And good luck with the pics. Hope to see some soon.
I think I got the pictures available

I'm probably the farthest from an expert but it looks good to me!
