Title: Drilling jigs and take down hardware?
Post by: cbatzi01 on September 05, 2013, 06:12:00 PM
Hi,

I hear a lot of complaints about the Bingham's drilling jig.  Is there another jig people recommend for drilling the limb holes?

Also, where does everyone get their take down hardware from?

I use a self-centering dowel jig. I can't remember the brand, but bought a good one. They have them at Harbor Freight and they look pretty good but can't vouch for them.

I get my hardware from Kenny, Binghams, etc.

Unless you're luckier than I am, pass on the Harbor Freight jig --- the inserts w/ mine are poorly fashioned and won't drill perpendicular.

Need to look into replacing it --- condidering a Bridge City Tools drilling jig.

I just eyeball it. I tried all the other ways and never got consistent results. If you are a little off center make some antler burr bolts. No one will ever know. But don't tell anyone! I would hate for people to think I do sloppy work.
