Title: glass wood lam ELB/warbow
Post by: timbermoose on September 01, 2013, 02:41:00 PM
ok, so a good friend of mine asked if it was possible to make a glass/wood laminated elb or warbow. i'm a selfbow guy myself and he shoots 2 hickory elb and a hickory backed hickory warbow that i made him. now he has shot a hill style laminate that he loved the cast but hates the flatbow. so, is there a way of making say a glass backed 3-4 wood lam elb?

i ran search but found nothing. please help me out glass guys. and selfbow guys, help me talk him out of it. not knocking the glass, just seemd too much work to me.

You can use glass only on the back of bow and tiller it on out like you would a hickory or bamboo backed bow.

Some early Howard Hill Bows only had glass on the back and I think David Miller will still build one that way.

If you do go this way, use smooth-on for glue.

One showed a strong full bend in handle bow few weeks ago, but I´m sorry can`t remember who or the thread`s title...
but maybe he`ll say something himself!
Use full length lamboo and taper both sides (total 006-008) will work for sure!

Search the bench for " glass elb". I made one and posted it here in 2012.
