Don't have a draw knife yet. Got tired of trying to hold this machete by the blade and pulling towards me. Wore heavy leather gloves for protection but the thin back of blade still was tough to deal with. Cut two pieces of pecan limb and...viola! Handles feel much better. LOL

The most useful part of a,draw knife is the, offset handles .
Have you got two, vise, grips, you could, clamp on?
Then you could pull.
And I thought I wuz a Redneck:) It will work:)
Once again, I will post the pics of my "redneck drawknife" and this is the last time I'm going to post this. Guys like Roy make fun of me for it, but it works!

Used lawnmower blades make great drawknifes. All you need is a welder for the handles, and a grinder to establish the edge. After that, all you need is a good file to keep her sharp.
Pretty crude... and fine as well- upcycling rulez!!
Back home in North Dakota we would call that Ingunewity. :D
Semo, I just pulled my mower blades. After mowing rocks all year not enough left for one of your draw knives.
Semo-you are the man! Love to build stuff. Just made a new tiller stick and flemish jig. My son is a certified welder so now he can show me what a "clean" weld looks like. And he thought we sent him to school just so he could make a livin'..........
