This one is a red oak board bow, surface backed with surgical tape from the roll used to tack down my son's NG tube and nasal cannula for most of his life and then cable backed to deal with a really poor tiller job. Tips are coyote leg bone and riser is spalted water oak, as is string tensioner. Tie-on string bridges are moveable.

It shoots beautifully. Just kind of point it and release. It is, however, rather weak. I need to make a new one with shorter cables, as well as better wood. This was rescuing my first board bow and making it a viable weapon. I truly love the way this shoots-the cables made all the difference.

The back porch is a mess because storms came through last night and it acts like it's right on top of us again. The last draw pic we both felt raindrops so we gathered up the gear and bolted in.
It still needs a proper string. I tried to make an endless loop and if I had teeth I'd have lost them. Maybe after my disability hearing I can afford a roll of something decent and can teach myself to make something besides a braided string.
Is the cable on the back just for strength, or can draw weight be adjusted with it? Interesting concept.

Draw weight can be adjusted, yes. that's what the key in the cord is for. I should have used a shorter cord, but it has a definite effect, yes.

Luv it. There was a guy named Rusty Craine from near Dallas TX that used to post here and on the ***********. You and he would get along great. True innovator and experimenter and lots of fun to have around. Of course he was about as tall as a fire hydrant and had a 20" draw so maybe you are a little different from him :)
