To follow these growth rings! So I enlisted my son. I think he did a fine job following them. The tennis ball is for size reference. A bit big for me but I'll take what I can get. I think a blind man could follow it if he was able to take enough wood off to get to the first one. Haha. Thanks to the friend who supported a broke guy who couldn't go to MOJam with some wood.

That stave is sick, good luck!
Cool Goose.
that is a sweet stave! huge, but sweet.
Lucky kid, that's all I have to say

looks more like his Mom :biglaugh:
My goal is to be shooting this bow before Thursday night. I cut out the profile and started scraping away at brace height. The two "braced" photos are from both angles. It isn't perfect with a couple of flat spots on both limbs but shows how one angle can be deceptive but the gizmo doesn't lie. Still working on getting a good bend at brace and then I'll string it up.

crazy stave Goose
can't wait to see it finished
Here she is braced. I have it bending to 20" and she is about spot on. I think I'll have it shooting by tomorrow or later tonight if I decide to go back outside and sweat some more.

keep the pics coming Goose !!
Wow, that's crazy!
Wow that is awesome! I would love to get a peice of wood like that to try.
That is a nice stave. Very challenging. Jawge
Beautiful! I have all kinds of trouble but the tips don't ever seem to align back up like that. Very nice! Keep bending it when you have problems with it ask the masters here and I bet they can help you.
There is a corkscrew through the handle that may have to stay. Heated one limb and then flipped it around and heated up the other. We will see how far I get before the end of the day. Hopefully I will be shooting by tonight.

looking good  that osage is real nice wood
I hit a snag... the tips didn't line up quite like as they would draw back. I would like to have the option of shooting the bow with both limbs being top so... I Snaked out the limbs a bit more with heat. I did shoot it pulling back to 22" before adding the heat so I can say I've shot it. Sad thing is my family leaves in the morning and we will be gone until next Tuesday. I think I can... I think I can...

Goose that is just awesome.
I have the bow tillered to 27" (shooting for 28.5") after I bent the tips a bit more. I have it braced about 6.5" and it's 64" t2t. The twist in the handle puts a decurve in the bow that I don't feel like taking out. The bows limbs are 2 growth rings thick but it's still going to be a 50+ lbs bow. I had the inspector come out and verify my work after I was finished. Now on to the sanding and the handle.

I forgot to add the braced photo. Full draw will hopefully come when it's finished.

Very nice, Goose..
All I can say is Wow! Show what someone with skill can do with a piece of snakey wood.
