Title: Phenolic risers?
Post by: bwsandite on July 26, 2013, 12:24:00 PM
Does anyone have much experience dealing with phenolic risers? I would love to build a riser with it! Love the wieght it would add.
Is it hard on blades? How does it sand? Where to get it?

Yes hard on blades-Takes longer to sand than wood.  web page (http://www.interstateplastics.com/search.php?vid=201306220816-4p&searchtext=phenolic&withinsite=1&image.x=24&image.y=21)

I got mine from Dale Stahl, it's easy to cut and I dont find it hard on blades at all, shaping it sure sucks, it's kind of like sculpting a rock and it's not much heavier than Dymondwood which to me is a lot easier to work with. It sure makes a pretty solid black handle though.

I built a couple outa 6061 aluminum. If you want heavy mass it fits the bill. Turned out pretty nice.
