Title: What do you do when there is a heat advisory?
Post by: Goose Gossett on July 11, 2013, 02:51:00 PM
Well I happened to pound out some sinew and work on getting a bbo to brace height.  Good way to loose half a dozen pounds in water weight

Nice looking bow Goose

Poundin' sinew is better than poundin' sand.

I definitely stop dipping arrows and stop bow laminations.  Heat and humidity are bad on both.

And I am in Montana where a heat advisory here is over 85 degrees and humidity over 70% !

I might still get fletching glue to dry!!!

Mostly I go fishing in the morning and evening and take afternoon naps in the shade!!!

My shop is routinely over 100 degrees this time of year. It gets over 110 in the heat of the day. I like gluing up lams and spraying finish at those temps. Glue spreads real easy and dries fast as does finish. I glued up a bow two weeks ago when the outside temp was 109. No telling what the temp was in my uninsulated metal shop building.

Nice looking bow. I like that style of riser.

good for you Mr. Goose!  I totally understand being only 100 miles due east of you... LOL...I have been trying to finish 3 bows before mojam...that way maybe one will last long enough for the clout shoot!    :)
Your bow making skills have come a long way my friend!

Bob

BTW- it almost looks like you are prepping a BBO for sinew ???  I don't think I have ever seen sinew over bamboo... ???

Cool.  Looks like you've got lots and lots of sinew.

Nice bow Goose.

I like to process all my sinew in the winter

The sinew is going on an osage static recurve not the bbo and was just part of a "to do" list I have. The handle is a Ralph Renfroe forward handle design I started with him at Ojam in march.  Speaking of I think he still has a good portion of my C-Clamps   :)
