Title: How to fix this
Post by: Petrovic on June 28, 2013, 06:21:00 PM
Hi Guys

I have had the limb bolt overlays come off on my limbs and was just seeing what glue would you recommend to fix this. Also what clear coat would be good to reapply to the limb.

I was thinking of a satin clear coat like they use for automotive applications, would this be the right thing to use.

Sorry I can not post pictures as I don't have a photo bucket account.

I would rough it up with 60 or 40 grit paper and use an epoxy.

The clear coat will work if compatible, I didn't know they made satin. I have finished a couple bows that had oily wood like bocote with it in gloss. No probs yet....

Good luck!!

Like Kenny said- epoxy would be my first choice because it blends well... A good gel super glue like gorilla glue with the blue top will work too.

Hey Petrovic where's you at? I'm in Qld as well and do  bow work  where you'd be welcome to repair the bow if you want to try. I'm on the Sunshine Coast.

Hi Bigbob2 I am in Toowoomba, just finished having a go and it came up pretty well for a first go, just have to add the clear coat. I will keep it in mind if I have any more problems.
