Nebraska Trad Archers held a glass bow building class. I was lucky enough to have Cory Engert as my teacher - since I wanted his rear mount limb takedown design!
Cory glued up the riser and limbs ahead of time and they were ready when I got there!
Here are a few pics... limbs when I got there. Grinding on the limbs. Riser.
Black glass - zebra wood riser with black palm accents - some red glass accents in limbs and overlays.

More pics to come. Soon as I can get them all uploaded - pain is butt. :)
That is gonna be sharp!
Ok - got a few more uploaded. Just so you know - I have never made a glass bow before. Cory was a great teacher - he even let me do a few things - without me messing it up!!
Got the inserts and pins in the riser and aligned the limbs.

Thanks Kenny - that piece of zebra wood you sent was awesome!
Lookin good, you have a great instructor there!
Looks like that zebra is gonna be put to good use!
Few more pics uploaded. Our goal was to get as much done in one day as we could...
Decided to use some red phenolic, black glass, and zebra wood for the tips. Glued it on and Cory did some shaping.

It was getting close to being able to shoot! And we still had daylight left...
Very cool- can't wait to see more!
We didn't stop for a lunch break - but we did eat a snack of summer sausage...

It was getting pretty late by now! Cory grilled up a few steaks and we ate a late supper and I had to hit the road.
Cory was going to spray some finish on over the next few days and then I get to go down and pick it up. Can't wait.
Thanks for all the hard work Cory! :notworthy:
Will post "finished" pics when I get them.
That's a good lookin bow!
Mitch,
I hope you got to learn a bit as the bow came together, I had a good time working with you yesterday. I am pretty stoked to get the finish shot on the bow, that chunk of zebra from Kenny is a sweet piece of wood and is gonna look great with finish on it.
I think in the next couple years this will be a good program to help fund the youth program in the NTA club.
Cory
Here is a pic before I started spraying the finish. (http://i1336.photobucket.com/albums/o641/cengert74/IMG_20130623_183921_461_zps41d0071d.jpg) (http://s1336.photobucket.com/user/cengert74/media/IMG_20130623_183921_461_zps41d0071d.jpg.html)
