I put plastic down, but the epoxy apparently leaked quite a bit. How do I get my bow off the form without destroying it?
If you can get one end loose- just lift it out from that side. Work a putty knife under the tough areas. If the glue has run down the side of the form- you should be able to sand or knck it off.
Thanks! Got it off.
I've had those "Oh crap!!" moments too when pulling a bow off a form, but always managed to get them off.
I like to put a nice layer of paste wax on the form surface and on the sides too. Then the plastic on top of the form.. I used Teflon spray once but went back to the wax, The Teflon worked but I have more confidence in the wax and the spray went all over the place..I did think about that and sprayed the form outside the shop, and that was a pain..
Glad that you got your bow unstuck. And also that I'm not the only one who has done that.
Wax.... It's you friend lol
Will definitely use wax next time...even have some sitting around the shop, just didn't think to use it!
Yup, wax on! Be sure to wash up well after the wax job before handling lams or glass...
I use a lot of Vinyl gloves in my shop..I always wear them when waxing my forms and pressure strip. I buy them by the 100's from Harbor Freight, but the last time I was there they didn't have any..But I had a stash of 4 boxes in the shop so I didn't panic.. Like Kenny says clean up good cause wax on lams = delamination..
If the epoxy grabs on to the edge of your glass/formica strip on the form you can run a course file down the edge and file that ooze off and your bow will typically pop right up.
