Well, it's been awhile since I posted on here. Over the last couple months I have been working on my long recurve design. I built a 50#, 45#, & 40# version using different kinds of wood for the risers and limbs. I have a blog (http://wookieswords.blogspot.com/2013/06/recurve-build-5-three-65-bows.html) with more pictures and info on these three 65" recurves (http://wookieswords.blogspot.com/2013/06/recurve-build-5-three-65-bows.html) , if you are interested.

From left-to-right:
- 50# bow has a walnut|bloodwood|maple laminated riser and moradillo limbs under clear glass.
Achieved stats: 64", 50# @28", (55# @30"), 205 fps with a 378gr arrow.
- 45# bow has a cherry|walnut|bloodwood laminated riser with actionboo limbs under black and clear glass.
Achieved stats: 65", 45# @28", (50# @30"), 197 fps with a 378gr arrow.
- 40# bow has a walnut|bloodwood laminated riser with jatoba back and honey locust belly lam under clear glass.
Achieved stats: 65", 40# @28", (45# @30"), 187 fps with a 378gr arrow.

I tried to put some different types of curves and lines in the risers, which I had never done before.

I also tried to center-cut a couple of the risers to see if it helps with arrow flight.

The 45# cherry/actionboo bow is by far the smoothest and best shooting bow that I have built/shot. I shot 3D league with it and I have been taking it out to the outdoor courses lately. It's a pleasure to shoot.

excellent work! beautiful bows! how long are the risers?
Bonner
Nice looking bows and wood combos.
Awesome looking bows. The way you did the accents`s realy rare and I love it!
Do the limbs leave the riser straight?
@Dan: The risers are 26" long.
@MoeM: Yes, the Bingham design has a straight side on the riser that makes it easier for sitting on the bow-press. I am thinking about trying a shape like some of the Bear Kodiaks, where the limb curves into the riser. It seems more challenging for sure.
Oh, and all the lams come from KennyM, and were top-notch.
Just found ur blog... and faved for sure^^
Great looking bows! I just picked up my first long recurve - Groves Spitfire at 66" your risers have a similar config.....thanks for sharing....
