I had the yew bow just about to weight on tiller then put sinew on the back. All went well but the heat I put on it may have dried it too much and it split at the fades and ran up to the riser. I filled it with crazy glue and it seems to be holding. MY QUESTION. Would putting on another layer of sinew over the split part make it any stronger? Thanks
you could wrap the splits MAYBE. a pic would help.
I have decided to add another layer if sinew so I can't turn it over to take a picture. I will when it dries more. Thanks
I assume the split is on the belly?
Did the sinew pull the bow into reflex?
Sinew can actually pull enough to crack bellies. But, more likely, the crack was already there and the sinew pulling just opened it up enough that you can now see it. If it runs along the limb and not off the side, as opposed to across it, you will be fine.
Sinew does nothing on the belly if that's what you mean by "adding another layer". Sinew is tension (stretch) strong but pretty much worthless in compression (like you get on the belly).
