Title: Core-tuff for belly and back?
Post by: typical2 on April 12, 2013, 07:09:00 AM
I've been looking for more color options for my longbows and came across this core-tuff.  I am wondering if anyone has used this instead of UL glass.  They are both unidirectional e-glass.  I think it is .030" so might use 2 pieces on the back.

It comes in red and i thought would be kind of cool on the back of a laminates longbow.

I think red glass would be cool ... for deer hunting at least. I wouldn't hunt turkey with that but no biggie.

I'd love to see if this works, but honestly I don't know much about the material, manufacturing process, strength or anythign of value to you.

I'm just sayin if you try it .... I wanna see it!!!

Never used it, but it is ul glass. By the time you get it sanded smooth tho, it will be under .025"(it is rough both sides) I'm thinkin, so lightweight bows might be the only ones.

Would a double layer of this on the back cause any problems?  After sanding smooth would be close to. 050 that i usually use.

Grind some clear glass and cover it. Works good.

Chuck,

That's what my buddy Overspined suggested...so i just knew it was a terrible idea.  But maybe i'll give that a try.

I might try both ways though.
