Title: Snake Skin Help
Post by: habph2 on April 02, 2013, 09:34:00 AM
I recently got two smaller dried skins. I'm looking to skin a three piece longbow. The problem is the skins are about two inches short. Does anyone know if they'll stretch?

You can put them on anyway and dress up the places that aren't covered by painting them or wrapping with serving thread.

Here is how I dressed up a bow from rawhide to the tip with serving string and superglue....

Ive used short skins with no wraps as well as wraps. If you choose to use no wraps I suggest a dab of super glue at the very end of the skin prior to sealing. You can trim the end up to a point and it looks nice done tastefully.

You could add some overlays to the riser end. You could also cut them to a point like a v with the point going towards the limb tip.
