Hi guys, I'm new here and love the site and information you guys provide.
I have made several board bows and self bows, but I am new to fiberglass lam bows. I getting ready to glue up my third 62" Hybrid from Binghams. I am using the fire hose press method.
Here is the problem, while slowly pressurizing the form, the riser is sliding about a quarter inch towards the limb tip and it leaves a small depression in the one fade. This happened on both glue-ups. I am using washers on the side of the form to prevent side to side movement and not sure what to do with this problem.
Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Here's a simple clamp made from some flat steel and a couple bolts. Works like a charm. :bigsmyl: Bob
I have been taping mine in over the center and both fades and have not had any riser movement.
That's what I do. Tape over the center of the riser then pull the lams down at the fadeouts with 3/4" strapping tape. Then I put plastic wrap over the whole thing, then metal pressure strips, then tape it again real good. I don't have any problems, but I know guys who drill and pin the form and bow pieces so nothing can shift on them.
I like what Canadabowyer is doing, simple and effective. Like Hill Hunter and Bowjunkie I have been using straping tape, but I first use a bar clamp to hold the riser in place, then once all lams and pressure strips are in place I tape the riser and lams down with fiber strapping tape. I think I'm gonna copy what CanadaBowyer is doing..I think Crooked Stic also has a similar system
I tape em, but like Robert, I bar clamp it til taped well. But I really like the look of the deal Bob has going there!
I have been taping the riser center and fades, but apparently not good enough. I think I will try the clamping method, either through the form or bar clamp. Thank you for the suggestions and help.

you got to pull down hard on the tape..I break or cut it all the time on the metal pressure strip..3 or 4 years ago I bought the Jack Harrison book and he also used a system like CanadaBowyer
The method that CB has going on there, looks really good! I'm going to have to adopt that into my process. I use tape also, but not the filament tape that Bingham promotes. I use black electricians tape. I can really pull everything together and it doesn't break like the filament stuff.
If the riser is sliding to the same tip each time then the deepest part of your form may be a bit off center. Other wise that strap clamp will work fine.
